Has great luck playing 4K on LG app. USB works fine. You can also stream over DLNA just fine (canât say for sure if 4K HDR works over dlna I havenât tried it). Streaming with Plex using the plex app on the tv works great too, just make sure you disable transcoding. Use a dedicated streaming client.
The speed of the HDD ranges about 120-130 MBPS when doing sustained transfer loads. If you search this sub that HDD likely is SMR. Generally OK for media playing but depends on the TV/player - ideally good to have a large cache. May be VLC is good. TVs usually have the 'lowest' spec CPU/RAM.
Hello, I have this question: Have 4k HDR TV at home and want to watch 4K content (have some 4k hdr movies (remux) in my PC) in my TV, but can't decide which one to use - USB flash drive or external HDD for it. If I will buy external HDD, store there some of 4k movies & then connect it to my TV
I do this for any 4K remuxes and then use Plex for everything else. The exact same files that would buffer constantly in Plex will play seamlessly this way. Download the app called Samsung Smart View for your laptop and connect to your tv then drag the movie file in and it plays it easily.
That said, unless you're planning to play the videos back on a 4K TV, you can shrink it to 1/2 the size with something like HandBrake without significant quality loss on a non-4K device. Personally, since 100GB of HDD space costs a few dollars at most, I just buy bigger and more hard drives. A last word on portable hard drives.

Yes, you can play Blu-Ray movies with a Blu-Ray drive connected via USB. However, there is a caveat: it will not play at 1080p. Since this method is not HDCP compliant, the player will actually strip data and not play at the full resolution and bitrate. The assumption is without the HDCP token being passed, that you may be attempting to pirate
