What I would like to know is has anyone had this done and what if any problems have they had with it. After changing the pump they often struggle to get the fuel through again. There are 2 ways to deal with this. 1. Before fitting the new filter fill it with fresh clean diesel. 2. Use a prinming bulb (Small rubber bulb type pump to fill the filter and remove most of the air. You can buy them for about £10 (13 Euros). Morning. I have just replaced the fuel filter element on my 55 Ford Focus 2.0 TDCI. Foolishly thinking it would be a simple job (like all the other Ford diesels I have owned to bleed and prime system) however I was not prepared for no 'non return valves' and no 'priming pump'. My mk4 mondeo 1.8 tdci has been having this problem on and off for the last 6 months or so. If I have more than a quarter tank of fuel in the car it gets very sluggish, juddery when driving. I have to very slowly bring the revs up to gain speed or it just judders badly.
